I do not think this cake should be relegated to one party only because it contains some Guinness. The Guinness adds a bit of chocolate malt flavor and makes the richest - but certainly never think it had beer in it from the taste.

Ingredients for Guinness Chocolate Cake
1 cup Guinness
10 tsp butter unsalted, more for greasing
Baking cocoa 3/4 cup unsweetened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup sour cream
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups for all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
For the topping:
1-8 ounce container mascarpone cheese
2 tsp of sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-inch vanilla bean, optional
Directions for Guinness Chocolate Cake:
Preheat 350degrees to oven. Line the bottom of a pot of 8 or 9 inch round cake with waxed paper and grease the pan with the remaining butter.
In a medium saucepan over Guinness and butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted and combined. Mix the cocoa and sugar. Remove from heat and let cool.
In a large serving, mix together the cream, eggs and vanilla until well blended. Slowly beat in the cooled butter mixture beer.
In a small bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add the mixture to the wet ingredients and mix well.
Pour into baking dish. Firmly touch the pot at the counter several times to remove air bubbles. Bake until finally a toothpick inserted is released clear, about 40-45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Release the springform and gently slide a knife around the edge of the cake. Remove from pan.
